As entrepreneur of MJ Shelton General Engineering Inc., I would like to briefly introduce
myself and the company along with its roots on which this company was founded and the joint
principals, ethics and business goals of myself and the company, with the intent to give our
customers a” true” feeling of comfort when contracting with our firm.
Growing up in the agricultural and construction industries heavy machinery and dirt
were always a part of my life. It wasn’t long before I was able to reach the pedal of a tractor
that I knew what I wanted to pursue as I grew up. Being accepted by the California Contractors
State License Board (CSLB) at the age of 21 as the sole qualifying individual for the General
Engineering “A” license was the beginning of my career as I had envisioned. Being brought
up in a family with superior work ethics I naturally developed the drive and determination to
welcome life’s challenges and those of being a business owner in a rigorous and competitive
industry. With an understanding that a vast array of responsibilities came with being a business
owner I knew that 100% commitment to my business, employees and customers were all
essential in attaining my goals throughout the years.
Through hard work, trials and tribulations, top quality key employees and most importantly loyal customers the company that was once just a vision has become a staple in the local civil construction industry with an ever increasing drive to seek further growth and successes

Randy Baylor joined MJ Shelton in 2011 bringing with him experience in estimating, project and administrative management. Randy’s education at Chico State’s Construction Management program and previous work experience within a large corporate construction company and tenure with a local mid-size contractor has made a big impact on the growth and systematic operation of the company. Since joining MJ Shelton, he has successfully implemented new management systems such as estimating, project over-site, cost tracking, contract administration, certified payrolls, and human resources, just to name a few. Company revenue substantially increased since joining the company as he has continued to foster relationships with our current client base and expanded customer relationships with others in both the public and private sectors. With almost 20 years of construction management experience, Randy’s professionalism, attention to detail and willingness to wear many hats has made him an integral part of the company and the success of every project we do!
